Lunging our horse helps us establish that the horse is relaxed, listening to cues, and ready to ride. It requires a different set of tools for communication with your horse as you are controlling your horse from the ground and not from their back. This clinic will focus on the basics of communication for lunging. Body language, controlling speed, how the heck to attach the lunge line to the bit, keeping the horse at the end of the lunge line, and more.

Cantering with your horse can be an exhilarating experience. But sometimes it is difficult to find a good balance between powerful and forward while keeping the canter controlled and comfortable. Stacey will help you release the tension so that you can communicate effectively with your horse.
Tension creeps into your body if you are afraid of the speed or that first powerful push that your horse needs to start the canter. Unfortunately, that tension flows to your horse. Fear and tension will cause your horse to potentially become worried, leading to spooking, spirals of tension, unbalance transitions and more.
Clinician: Stacey McCoy from Allison Creek Farm.

Location: Allison Creek Farm – 2131 Watson Springs Road, Watkinsville, GA.
Auditing is free. The clinic will be limited to 4 participants for a 4 hour clinic. Participation is $100 per horse/rider team.

- 9am – Tack and Gear workshop with local leathersmith Susan Akins. Everyone knows that one of the fundamentals of horseback riding is having safe, practical, usable tack (a little bling never hurts though, right!?) We will walk through how to how to clean and inspect tack for safety and usability.
- 10:30am – 2 hour clinic. Focus of the clinic is building seat aids and balance. The purpose is to improve confidence through the keystone aids of the seat. We will start with a little ground work then work through some grids focusing on trot-canter transitions.
- 12:30pm lunch – Please bring your own lunch. We will be discussing knots during lunch.
- After lunch we will be out on the confidence course until 4pm. Stacey will be present to help you and your horse work through your questions.
Dr. Dana Peroni of Covered Bridge Equine has agreed to join us in the afternoon perform chiropractic adjustments for horses. Please indicate on your registration if you want to sign your horse up for an adjustment.
We are talking to Dr. Bryan Hooper of Eastside Chiropractic about joining us to perform chiropractic adjustments for humans!! Let us know if you are interested, and so we can get back to him with a number.
Jennifer Elder will be joining us to take photos! Thank you Susan, Dr. Peroni, Jennifer (and hopefully Dr. Hooper!) for joining Stacey to make this a fun and informative event.
